4 DIY Workbenches

This workbench is built using simple butt joints for the frame that are secured with the Kreg system of angled pocket holes and screws.

Pocket hole screws act like internal clamps, ensuring strong joints for a tough, durable workbench.

At 400mm wide this bench can be positioned against a wall and when the car is out of the way it opens up to a generous 1540 x 800mm worktop.

The front half of the benchtop is hinged and simply lifts up, with pivoting support arms that are heldin position by removable ring bolts.

It has an underbench shelf that’s handy for keeping power tools and also large enough for paint tins, plus four drawers for storing DIY materials.

This sturdy 1800 x 750mm workstation includes pegboard backing for hanging tools, and storage on shelves above and below the bench.

Build the frame from 90 x 45mm radiata pine, cut with a mitresaw.

Cut the benchtop and shelves from 12mm CD plywood with a circular saw and straightedge guide. Follow the cutting setout to minimise waste.
