Paint a door
The selection of paint, colour and technique that your door is painted with, can dramatically improve the entry of any space.
Here are a few tips that will help you create a lasting first impression in any room or home.
Firstly determine the paint colour for your door. Remember to consider the paint you’ve selected for surrounding walls and ceilings.
To get the best possible results, we recommend taking the door off the hinges and laying it flat on a raised surface or leaning it against a protected wall.
If you’re unable to remove the door, wedge it in place to ensure it doesn’t move during painting.
Lightly sand the door, ensuring you sand any rough sections first.
Mask off the surrounding areas with drop sheets and paint tape.
Stir your paint thoroughly before pouring into a tray.
Paint the hinged edge first with a brush, then for the main part of the door, using the M or W painting techniques with the roller.
Wait for the paint to dry before applying a second coat.
Apply water-based enamels by coating and spreading swiftly, without over brushing to avoid brush marks.
