Create a compact solar-powered water feature ideal for small courtyards
We show you how to build a pond in a pot in just an afternoon. You can find the full instructions and products used in the May 2016 issue of Handyman, out now

Bring the soothing sound and sight of water to your outdoor space with a pond in a pot, complete with a fountain.

Once you have the necessary equipment to hand, you can put it together in just a couple of hours.

Instead of the traditional method of sealing a pot to hold water, this project uses a plastic bucket as a liner.

The trick is to choose the bucket first, then find a pot to fit it. The pot we used measures 48 x 46cm.

To assemble the potted pond, put the bucket in the pot, install a basic pump and fill it with water.
