Subscriber Rob Middenway needed a new letterbox that would be watertight in subtropical rainstorms and also big enough to fit his copy of Handyman.
He settled on a rectangular design made out of exterior ply, trimmed with offcuts of Tasmanian oak, and featuring a sloping mini orb roof.
A plastic chopping board was used for the floor, with the opening acting as a drain. It was also covered in flywire to keep out creepy-crawlies.
The mail slot is 25mm high and the width of the box, with a 30mm wide sloping aluminium strip at the front to drain water.
Brass hinges and screws were used to secure the top
