3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
31/4 cups (485 g) plain (all-purpose) flour
1/3 cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
1/2 teaspoon salt
96 miniature pretzels
96 miniature candy-coated baking bits (such as M&Ms)
48 small red sweets (candies)
Step 1
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, cream of tartar, bicarbonate of soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Step 2
Divide dough into eight portions; cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Preheat oven to 190ºC (375°F/Gas 5).
Step 3
On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 15 cm (6 inch) circle; cut into six wedges and place 5 cm (2 inches) apart on ungreased baking trays (baking sheets). Press in pretzels for antlers, baking bits for eyes and a red sweet for the nose.
Step 4
